The Tiger Incident

I find it interesting that so many people place certain individuals on a pedestal. I don’t know what anyone could do to deserve such treatment. This week, Tiger Woods has been in the news. A spokesperson for the website, http://tigerwoodsisgod.com, came on air and stated that he was disappointed in Tiger for his actions and thought that he was the type of person that could be elevated and looked to as a role model.
First off, it’s one thing to look at someone as a role model, but calling Tiger a god is going a little far. There is a strong and definite difference between praise and worship. No man deserves worship.
Second, what do you expect of Tiger. Everything is speculation right now and from what I’ve heard, he’s admitted to doing wrong, apologized, and is currently trying to  reconcile his marriage, even attending counseling. No one is perfect. I can’t think of anything more respectable than a man trying to right his wrongs.
I guess the only thing I can really say is this: when you elevated a man the only thing you can expect him to do without fail is fall.

the skittles bowling incident

Ever heard of skittle bowling? Neither had I. But last night I had the opportunity to try it out for the first time. The concept is simple: draw a skittle and whatever color it is dictates the way you have to bowl. i.e. If you draw a red skittle, you have to granny bowl (step up to the line and swing the ball between your legs with both hands). If you have nothing else to do, can get a group of friends together and want to have fun at your own expense, then I suggest it.

the pi incident

Well, I'm normally disappointed when I stay up late studying and don't get any sleep. Tonight is not one of those nights. Oh yeah, I'm probably going to be regretting not going to bed earlier, but given the circumstances I can't help but be happy. What am I so happy about? It's simple. I've been going over my math review for a test in the morning and I look up to see what time it is and it is 3:14; it's pi time. How could I be upset when I'm doing math and it's pi time? Good night everyone.

the Tom Jones incident

So, I'm sitting in the LDS Institute and I'm not doing anything like homework or well, anything productive, but I digress; there is a guy jamming out to Tom Jones with it as loud as his computer can get. And he is totally legit, too. He's not just kidding around, he is seriously loving his Tom Jones and he is getting his groove on. Now, the Institute lounge is the kind of place that students come to socialize and do homework and it's usually a fairly calm and quiet atmosphere. Today, it's a flashback to the 70's.

the alarm clock incident

Today, I woke up and I looked at my alarm clock. I saw that it was about 5 minutes after my expected my alarm to go off. I was slightly disappointed thinking my alarm had failed to go off, but then I realized that I have the faintest recollection that I might have already woken up once this morning and already turned off my alarm. I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure I had some form of amnesia.
